Ever wonder why when you search on Bing for a business, some of them have a huge ad on the right hand side, including a photo of the business, map, address, phone #, and hours? Wonder how they got that and how much it cost them? Well, they set it up themselves and it’s FREE!

www.BingPlaces.com is a free Bing service that enables businesses to add their listings to Bing Search. Just like “Google My Business” that I wrote about a few weeks ago.  Just like Google, Bing allows you to add a Logo, photos, a map, contact information, website address, hours and more.  This information will show up in the right column when people search for your business.

Having a photo of your business and all the information right there on the search page allows them to contact you or find your store easily without having to search any further.  A free Microsoft account is required to get started with the Bing Places for Business. www.signup.live.com

Make sure customers have the right information.
Adding a business to Bing Places for Business is very simple and will take you approximately 10 to 15 minutes depending on how much information you want to provide. Here are step by step instructions on how to set your business up on Bing for FREE.

Search
Start by searching to see if Bing already has a listing for your business. If the listing exists, you can claim that listing and modify it as needed. If a listing does not exist, you can add a new one.

Complete your listing profile
Adding complete information about your business helps you tell the best story about your business. You can add photos of your business & services, hours of operation, services offered, all of your contact information including phone numbers, address, email, website, facebook, linkedin, etc. The more information you offer the better.

Verify your listing
Protect your listing from unauthorized changes by verifying it. You can verify your listings by receiving a PIN sent to your business address. All businesses must provide a valid address, although you may hide your address in search results if needed.

Publish
After successful verification, listings are processed by Bing for publishing. Users can track the publishing status from the “Home” tab on the Bing Places for Business website.

And that’s it!  As manager of your own Bing account, you can make updates to your listing as often as needed.
